22 May 2008, DALLAS - IDUG is proud to announce the Search for the XML Superstar, a brand new, worldwide initiative aimed at highlighting the benefits of DB2, and related technologies to current and emerging generations of information management professionals - specifically database developers - and university students and faculty.
Through a combination of education, exposure to practical applications, and “tests” that validate understanding and ability to program IBM database technologies, the Search for the XML Superstar will seek to recognize and encourage skills-building in the areas of DB2, XML, pureXML and XQuery. Contest categories will include a XML application programming contest, a ported application contest, a database gadget contest, a video contest and a query challenge. Entries will be judged by an independent panel of practicing DB2 user professionals.
The benefits to Contest participants are valuable and plentiful. In addition to honing new skills with high professional demand, participants will be eligible to win one of a series of valuable prizes, including all-expense paid trips to an IDUG industry conference, new laptops, a Nintendo Wii system, and more!
The Contest is scheduled to run from June through November. Details on the Search for the XML Superstar Contest, an entry form, and terms and conditions will be available in the coming weeks. Please re-visit this page www.channeldb2.com/superstar for the latest Contest news as it breaks!
