Tom, hope all is well. Are you coming to IBM's annual Information Managment conference in Las Vegas this year? Over 7000 people focused on database, data integration, data management and content management. Lots of events specific to Federal too.
Here's the link: http://www.ibm.com/software/data/conf
Happy new year Tom. Just curious..are you using any tools for your IDMS to DB2 migration? IBM is the leader (according to Gartner) in data integration. If you'll be de-duping data, correcting data, assuring data quality, or transforming data during the migration...it might be worth looking into. Oftentimes customers don't know how bad the quality of their data is until they do one of these migrations. Plus after doing this the data normally shrinks...making queries and reports faster
BTW, is this the migration effort being led be Andy Black? Thanks. -Tim
Sounds Great Tom. I wish DB2 was used more in the Fed. Govt. Oracle has more security bugs in 6mths than DB2 has had in 20 years.
IBM just had their big Information Mgmt conference in Vegas. Tons of training, roadmap, demos, and engr'ing sessions. I was out there earlier this week. My apologies for not getting an invite out to you. I'll make sure you get one for next year. It'll be at the Mandalay Bay.
I'm still in the Info Mgmt Group but I'm doing a lot of data integration stuff now. If you ever have issues around data quality, data transformation and movement, data replication, or meta-data mgmt, I'm your man. I'm helping Trustees replicate DB2 data from their Iseries to a MSSQLserver box now.
Let me know if there's anything I can help you out with. Unfortunately, Paul Rockwood moved out of Federal but I have access to other DB2 experts. -Tim
