Hi thiago,
I live in Brazil, in Brasília.
I'm actually entering the area of databases now. always been interested and studied on the subject. but now I really want to get into the database.
I use the version of Hercules is 3_05. use the windows gui to hercules etartar and create discs. but sometimes also use the Hercules himself, who has an uncomplicated interface.
I created a version with only 3 GB but I have a more complete with 8 GB. in both the database is started (version 7 and 8).
You can contact me at:

Hello, Thiago.
I am doing fine, thanks. And you?
The work here is fine. I work with many versions of DB2, but most clients are migrating to v 9.5.
And you, do you work with DB2?

Hello Thiago,
sorry if I answer you only now. I enjoyed your video and your blog: I'm sure will help many students. During this period I'm working on other activities as ambassador, but I hope to prepare for the DB2 730 Certification as soon as possible. Thanks for the work you are doing: it will be very useful for me at that moment!

Cheers, Adelchi

Hi Thiago,
I agree with Agatha. The video is excellent!. I first viewed it when I was reviewing the DB2 on Campus Newsletter that Agatha has worked on. I downloaded the video, and will use it next Wednesday on a presentation at York University in Canada. You'll become famous =). Thanks for letting me share it with other students.

Cheers, Raul.

Hi Thiago, your video is great! Thanks for creating it. I'm including it in the first DB2 on Campus Newsletter that will be published shortly. Raul would also like to use it in his presentations. Please contact Raul to give him permission and details.

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Hello Thiago

Please, show your video describing your DB2 Ambassador activities here! You can incentive more students to participate in this program, learning DB2 and taking DB2 730 Certification for free ;-)

Cheers, Andrea

Hello Thiago, yes we use visual explain, but that's only one feature among many more.

If you're interested, here is a presentation with some screenshots:

The presentation is in German (alas), but slides 15-19 should nevertheless give you a good impression of what the tool does.

Hi Thiago, thanks for your advice. I am sure that what you write on channeldb2 will be useful for many people. Regarding DBA, I think that there is the idea of writing a book in "DB2 on Campus book series" project, but you probably already know it. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!!

Hi Thiago, C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! ! That's great news! That makes 3 out 3 certified ambassadors in South America! Way to go!! (Great incentive for other ambassadors as well!) Enjoy your day at work tomorrow -- as a certified DBA ;-)

I added "Certified on DB2" also in bold; I'll see if I can add it in colour as well. I'm sure Caroline and Andrea are very pleased with you.

(I'm sure that the 3 friends who dropped out of your group are sorry, and will soon join again, after they read about your success ;-)) Invite them to your page (even if they're not on channelDB2, you can still invite them to join).

Hi Thiago,

Yes, I do work with DB2 for z/OS! I have two books in the works and hopefully a third one will be signed by a publisher.

We currently have a certification guide by Susan Lawson... Have you seen that one in Brazil?

Talk to you soon,

Hi Thiago, I'm fine, thanks.

Thanks also for sharing your ambassador experience. Great to hear that you're already working with z/OS and have been hired as well. Stories like yours go a long way in inspiring students to learn DB2. Take my word, you will never learn everything about DB2 (it's far too big), and you wouldn't want to because things change from release to release. Just focus on the parts that you need for your job and you'll do fine.

I have updated both Ambassadors in South America and Student User Groups Worldwide. I would never have guessed that FEA stood for University of Curitiba city--none of the words begin with those letters ;-) ??

Hi Thiago, thanks for the update. I've updated the South America Ambassadors group (but don't know what FAE stands for). If you let me know, I can update the group. Thanks!

Hi, Thiago!
Thanks! I hope our DB2 community in Brazil will share information and ideas in the group. By the way, if you know more people who work, study or are interested in DB2, invite them to participate of this group.
Good to know you are DB2 mainframe DBA. I am DBA for LUW. We can share some ideas.
See you.
