Hi everyone,

In order to analize system performance I tried to discover how time is spent within my database system.

According to the documentation, TOTAL_RQST_TIME=TOTAL_WAIT_TIME + TOTAL_*_PROC_TIME.

By querying the service class table function (MON_GET_SERVICE_CLASS) I'm disappointed by the fact that there is a big difference between total_rqst_time and the sum of all other values.

It seems that with "normal" DML statements these two values are quite similar but after executing other commands as reorg command or create index command this difference increases considerably. I realize that, even though the INTRA_PARALLEL parameter is not set these statement are still executed in parallel as the FCM_* time components are not zero.

These are the values that I have collected:

TOTAL_RQST_TIME= 24069604

TOTAL_WAIT_TIME + TOTAL_*_PROC_TIME= 12947738

Is there someone who can explain the reason why?

I'm using db2 9.7 fixpack 7.

Thanks

Alessandro
