A sticky on the DB2 Express-C forum
Provide your input on DB2! Honorarium for completing survey
I had heard of honorary degrees and aquariums but what the heck is an honorarium? I didn't think they meant an honorary aquarium (not even sure what that is) so I decided to look it up and the first hit wikipedia described it as "an ex gratia payment made to a person for their services in a volunteer capacity or for services for which fees are not traditionally required.
" Note the keyword is payment
. Getting paid is good ;-) So looks like if you fill out a survey (25 multiple choice questions and written input) you'll get paid for volunteering your time to provide feedback about DB2 (especially DB2 Express-C). Too bad I don't qualify as an IBMer, but if you're ineterested, just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- Your name
- Preferred e-mail address for contacting you about the survey
- Your phone number (optional)
- Number of months/years using DB2 for Linux, UNIX, Windows
Now I'm not allowed to disclose the honorarium amount. All I can say is its sweet! But of course any rabid DB2 user would never do it for the money, right ... its all in the spirit to help improve and enhance DB2. Seriously, we do want to hear about what you like/dislike in DB2 and what we can do to make DB2 Express-C better.
While you're sharing your DB2 experiences why stop at just the survey (honorarium) when you can win a wifi TV or an iPAD? IDUG is running a Do You DB2 contest
... just share your DB2 stories, like how easy it is, benefits that you're seeing from certain DB2 features (like compression, pureXML, HA, etc), or even how you've been evangelizing DB2 in your company. Like every contest there are judging criteria and prizes. They are looking for memorable and unique stories and if you are a lucky winner you get Wifi a enabled Vizio HD TV or an Apple iPad.
Frankly I'm not crazy about a Vizio but who can say no to wifi LCD for sharing your DB2 story? Besides my Sony just fried its power supply and it didn't have any wifi. Now an iPad I want coz I simply can't pick one up in the store yet as Apple decided to delay the launch in Canada.
