HI Raul,

Good day...

I have an unanswered question for quite few months.

1) HOW TO DART A RANGE PARTITIONED TABLE TO DEL FORMAT WHEN A DATABASE IS INCONSISTENT? AS YOU KNOW EACH PARTITION IN A RANGE PARTITIONED TABLE IS IDENTIFIED AS INDIVIDUAL TABLE.

2) HOW TO IDENTIFY THE UNIQUE TABLE ID OF A PARTITION IN A RANGE PARTITIONED TABLE WHEN THE DATABASE IS CONSISTENT.

Kindly help me solving these mysterious questions.

Regards,

Vinod.

hello Rail sir,

I am new to DB2 and i have tried much to get sample database, but it couldn't opened it and pops out with this message, "Existing "SAMPLE" database found...    The "-force" option was not specified...  Attempt to create the database "SAMPLE" failed.  SQL1005N  The database alias "SAMPLE" already exists in either the localdatabase directory or system database directory."

Could you please solve it out , please....

Thank you, Raul sir

Raul,
I am new to DB2 Express C 9.5 and I am not sure how to request help from the community. I bought a new Laptop in May and installed DB2 Express-C 9.5 via the HTML down load. It did not create the DB2Admin user so I installed it with another account. I added the Java upgrade later and was able to install DB2 a second time via the regular download method after installing the latest Java version. I was able to create the sample databases from the initial installs and use DB2 express.

After reading documentation I understood that my user account should be DB2admin or it might cause me problems in the future. It would not allow me to install a 3rd DB2 download so I uninstalled DB2 and created an DB2admin account as an administrator manually on my Laptop. It would not install DB2 9.5 like it did the first two times??? NOTHING is written to the LOGS but I get a prompt to install the New Version of DB2 (not a reinstall prompt). When I select the New Install it runs for a while, creates a new timestamped log file but writes nothing to the new log?

I get a message 'Invalid Command Line Argument' and to consult the Windows SDK for details on the installation. I have gone through the Windows Vista help but I can not find anymore details. I have upgraded my windows vista and java to the very latest versions but I can not install my DB2 9.5.

Can you tell me were to go for help. It seems that the setup app is having problems with the New Install and may be detecting a part of the old install. It will not allow me to try a reinstall anymore? I have tried everything including deleting the old installation objects manually but I still can not install DB2 again.

Do you have any suggestions? Are there any hidden objects that I may have missed? I am an AS/400 Pro that started using DB2 in 1993 with DRDA and on my own AS/400. I need this express version because my AS/400 has been damaged in a flood and I want to stay current with DB2. The sample data even has the same test data that the AS/400 DB2 Read-book has for AS/400 i5/OS V6.

Sincerely, James E. Stephenson Jr (Jim) 302-357-9631
PS Great job on the videos.
