Glad to know that you like command line. I guess best thing is to start installing db2 form command line. There are two install programs , one is for command line.
Make sure you do it in Virtual machine. That way you can do it over and over if you have saved an image of original set up.
Instead of having all help before hand; I would suggest to google yourself as you go. I mean you can google all before hand, yourself, and save the search results and actual results in one of your refernce file , preferablly text file.
With virtual box you will have plenty of diffrent options. look into if your Vbox session some how allows cut and paste, through some settings. I run VBox session and RDC to it from host OS to be able to cut and paste to host OS programs.
Keep asking, however best source is ibm develperworks network. IBM documentation is more than enough.

Atul,
Let me know what hardware are you on. The PC, that runs Windows operating system are known as IBM PC Compatibles. Current hardware is x586 or above.
Now if you have windows, then you are already using IBM PC Compatibles.
There on you may be able to install VirtualBox by Sun ( now Oracle ) version 4 & above.
This is available for various platforms. not sure about mac, but you can find from Oracle Virtualbox web site.
Once you have virtualbox , you may be able to install Linux or windows on it. Then install DB2. That way you can recyle any test machine when done.
Linux is free, Virtualbox is free, Linux is free (Windows not) and then DB2 Express_C is free. Give it a try, let me know if I missed anything.
Regards
