Hi this is my first post,

 

 

       can you please help me how to change the datatype of my column

      when i created the table my column PhoneNo data type is INT and i want to change it to BIGINT

      is this possible to change without dropping the table.please help me Thank you in advance and i am

     hoping for your positive response.

Hope you found your answer before this.  For questions of this type, there's always the manual, of course, but also, the DB2 Mailing List, which you can sign up for at: http://www.idug.org/p/fo/et/topic=19 (use the CLICK HERE link on that page to sign up for a free IDUG membership which will allow you to subscribe and post to DB2-L)

 

The answer to your question is that the ALTER TABLE statement allows you to do this.  For example,

ALTER TABLE PHIL_TEST_20110817              
 ALTER COLUMN TEST_COL_1 SET DATA TYPE BIGINT
;
